Dr. Makhani is hands down the BEST GI doctor in Los Angeles, 5 stars simply does not do him justice. I had the bad fortune of experiencing extreme stomach pain and subsequently having to spend 4 days in the hospital but was incredibly lucky to have been referred to Dr. Makhani.  Dr. Makhani and his team were incredibly professional, thorough and knowledgeable. Dr. Makhani is extremely nice, professional, and really cares about his patients. I wanted to try a rarely prescribed medication, Low Dose Naltrexone, which fits in with my holistic approach to health, by addressing the root cause rather than masking symptoms. LDN works by regulating and supporting the body's immune system, and may be invaluable in a variety of autoimmune conditions - yey! (I'm rather obsessed with food, diet, health, Paleo, etc. I blog about this at paleoactress.com, and am the author of "The What When Wine Diet," available on Amazon.) Anyways, LDN is rarely prescribed, not that well known, and pretty difficult to get compounded in such low dosages. I was highly impressed that Dr. Makhani insisted on researching the medical literature himself first, rather than just writing or refusing a prescription. After his own research (I sent a variety of medical journal articles his way), he consented to try LDN with me, and worked with me on finding a pharmacy to compound it. I believe Dr. Makhani also calls in all the prescriptions himself, rather than have an assistant do it, which is refreshing. For a gastroenterologist who actually listens, cares, and will work with you, I definitely recommend Dr. Makhani! As a side note, I cannot comment on people's negative experiences with any insurance issues. I do believe Dr. Makhani is fairly expensive, but it is ok for me, as I made certain he was in network with my insurance. I've been burnt in the past with shady business practices with other doctors re: insurance. (Not with Dr. Makhani.) It's shocking what some practices will do to try to get money from you! (Some will even list themselves as being "in network" on ZocDoc, when they are, in fact, NOT.) So just make sure Dr. Makhani is in fact in network with your plan before scheduling an appointment, to avoid any potential headaches. Also, parking is a bit tricky, with no validations.

I first worked with Dr. Makhani in Philadelphia at Pennsylvania hospital. We cared for numerous patients together. I always found him to be an extremely competent consultant and practitioner. My patients that I referred to him always thanked me thereafter as they were incredibly pleased with their interactions with him. I trust his diagnostic abilities as well as technical skills. Combined with his uncanny ability to connect with patients, he has become a trusted colleague. He recently relocated to Los Angeles and I look forward to working with him at Cedars as we did in Philadelphia.

Dr. Marc D. Makhani, the founder of LA Digestive Health and Wellness, located at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Towers in Beverly Hills, California, is one of the best Gastroenterologists in the Los Angeles area. Dr. Makhani's patients benefit from his expertise in delivering a variety of procedures including endoscopy, colonoscopy, video capsule endoscopy, radiofrequency ablation, and testing for acid reflux and motility disorders. Dr. Makhani pursued his bachelor’s degree at UCLA with a major in psychobiology. He also volunteered at the Santa Monica UCLA Hospital as an undergraduate. He then went on to obtain his medical degree as a doctor of medicine (MD) at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He subsequently obtained a board certification in internal medicine after completing his residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Makhani then continued his medical training by pursuing a specialty in gastroenterology at Temple University Hospital in Pennsylvania before moving back to Los Angeles to begin his practice.
